In the'50s was for the PH Erfurt houses on the northern road outside the city a campus with various teaching, administrative and residential buildings. The PH-field ensemble is under protection. The dormitory 1 as part of the campus facility shows in its external appearance and internal functional structure clearly considers the architecture of that time. The dormitory was used to "kasernierten" accommodation of students. In the 70s was to defuse the situation, the dorm attic expanded.
For the accommodation of large numbers of students in 6-8-bedded rooms built spatial structure in no way corresponded to the current market-oriented supply of student housing and jobs. Therefore, extensive alterations and changes in the space necessary - also in view of the only usable collectively, completely worn and inadequate sanitary facilities needed. The space program and the room occupancy was in line with the requirements of the student Erfurt / Ilmenau and the building requirements and recommendations for the student housing of the Free State of Thuringia 25.01.1996 charger.
The dormitory has space for 92 students. Partly singles are offered. Each 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen with dining area assigned. In the attic there are 2 residential communities, each with 4 rooms. The rebuilding of the interior are reflected in the appearance and functional value on the homes without the architectural language of the'50s to oppose. The motive of the projection was equipped with modern means in the form of elegant core Glaser added. The cubature and the roof shape of the building survived. The idea of the campus lives of the availability of housing for the students at the site. The preservation of the residential function thus represents an enrichment dar.
